The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is firmware that initializes and manages the hardware components of your Palbook during the boot process. Accessing and configuring the BIOS settings allows you to customize the system’s hardware settings and troubleshoot issues. Here’s how to access and navigate the BIOS settings:
Accessing the BIOS
1. Restart Your Palbook:
- Save any open files and restart your Palbook.
2. Enter the BIOS Setup:
- During the startup process, press repetitively a few times on the Esc key when you see the Futuco logo.
3. BIOS Main Menu:
- Once you enter the BIOS setup, you’ll see the BIOS main menu with several tabs and options.
Navigating the BIOS
1. Keyboard Navigation:
- Use the arrow keys to navigate between tabs and options.
- Press Enter to select an option or open a submenu.
- Use the Esc key to go back to the previous menu or exit the BIOS setup.
2. Common BIOS Settings:
- System Information: View detailed information about your Palbook’s hardware, including the processor, memory, and storage devices.
- Boot Order: Configure the boot sequence to specify the order in which devices are checked for a bootable operating system. You can set the internal storage device, USB drives, and other devices in your preferred order.
- Security Settings: Set up passwords for BIOS access and system boot to enhance security. You can create an administrator password to restrict access to BIOS settings and a user password to protect the system from unauthorized access.
- Advanced Settings: The advanced settings are only accessible to Futuco technical team and not accessible by the user.
- Exit Menu: Save changes and exit the BIOS setup, discard changes, or restore default settings.
Resetting the BIOS
1. Restore Default Settings:
- If you need to reset the BIOS settings to their default values, navigate to the Exit menu.
- Select Load Setup Defaults or a similar option, then confirm your selection.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS setup.
2. Saving and Exiting:
- After making any changes in the BIOS, navigate to the Exit menu.
- Select Save Changes and Exit to apply your changes and restart your Palbook.
